I work at the intersection of speech technology, AI ethics governance, and language diversity. I direct the MSc Speech Technology program and serve as Department Head of Governance & Technology at the University of Groningen. My research focuses on speech synthesis, recognition, and evaluation, alongside the ethical governance of AI systems. In addition to supervising doctoral students, I chair ethics at INTERSPEECH 2025-2026, serve on the ISCA Ethics Committee, and evaluate research for the European Commission.
